Cult and Ritual, Word/Body and The People

The word cult, which means worship, needs to be reclaimed for its innocent meaning and function. Cult is the collective practice of speaking with each other that brings us into a powerful cohesiveness. Cult unifies and elevates each of us in common understanding. Speech is not mere utterance of words. It is our shaper of reality, organizing our being in matter, space and time. Speech gives sense, meaning and direction. It opens and lifts us to the light of intelligence above and to its divine source, thus enabling us to understand, feel, know and act on the basis of a communion with each other and with essential truth.

Truth, above, both silent and spoken, is silent reality below, embedded and manifest in the mysterious depths of our material world and physical body, waiting to unfold through Ritual. Our body contains all of nature and her powers and is technically, in both hidden and obvious ways, the whole of the universe. Ritual enables us to focus, explore and bring out and abide in the glow, flow and grow of the ever-present moment, here in this sacred vessel, our body, one with all.

Through cult and ritual, word and body, we ascend to the heights of the spirit essence, called the living word, and descend into the matrix of material oneness, which is the universal Mother.

On a practical level, cult means to call forth from our highest, most integrated perception of self and spirit, using concepts and discussion to know and merge with the infinite spirit. Conversely, the practice of ritual dedication and devotion, regularly exercised, mobilizes our senses and opens our bodily structures to the silent yet rhythmic dance of reality, wherein we develop and unfold: concentrated, unified, beautiful and free.
